How a Fractal Fighter Fights

A description of the combat system in SS&W

Fractal Fighters are specialized warriors who use color in its raw state as their main weaponry.  In its raw form, each color is incredibly potent due to its unique properties.  Raw color will not damage good people or beings; however, it is deadly to evil.  This is what lends a Fractal Fighter his great power.

A Fractal Fighter wields a conductor’s baton in each hand.  These batons are made of white color in its solid form, and they allow the Fighter to produce color in gaseous, liquid, or solid form.  With his batons, a Fighter can shoot projectiles, build platforms and structures over thin air, create formations and buildings, form shields, and more.  This is done via music.
Fractal Fighters harness the harmonics and vibrations in music to fuel color production.  Each Fighter is assigned 4-7 music-producing little robots called fractoids.  The music produced by the fractoids is linked to the Fighter’s batons.  In addition to using the music from the fractoids, a Fighter can utilize the “music of the spheres”: the real-life musical tones emitted by stars and planets.

Where are the fractals in fractal fighting?
Fractals are geometric patterns that repeat themselves over and over again on every scale of magnification.  Many examples can be found in nature and music, and they are used extensively in film computer-generated imagery.  A Fractal Fighter utilizes fractal patterns in his color-creations.  The very nature of these patterns lend themselves to combat and structure formation.  Thus, they are incredibly useful to Fractal Fighters and particularly deadly to enemies.  Not only must a Fighter create projectiles, shields, and structures with his color, but he must also create those things according to certain visual patterns and structuring (fractal patterns).  This patterning adds much more force and power to the already potent raw color.
